Where I Live

Our new topic is for photos of the Happy Snappers' abodes, wherever that might be, either permanent or temporary. Photos taken in kitchens will be allowed, but please do try and show something unique to your particular home/location/type of dwelling, and what it means to you. You can also enter photos of other people's places, with their permission, or other living things.

Rivers, Ponds, Lakes and Canals

Water, water everywhere, this topic reflects the weather conditions in the country today, plenty of scope to let your imagination run free... The Judge has chosen this topic to include only freshwater water courses or body of water, inspired by a nature programme. If you have any water-dwelling life in your picture, so much the better.

Rocks Topic

Rocks (this can include rocks of any size, so includes particles as small as sand & as big as mountains)

The Judging results are in for Rocks.
1st - No.4, for it's unusual formation, the folds in the rock, and the contrast between the rough surface and the delicate plants.
2nd - No.3, again for the contrast between the rock itself and the plant with it's fruits.
3rd - No.5, which seems at first to be dominated by the bone in the centre, but the enlarged picture shows more rocks, good colour & texture.

Special merit to No.7's rugged peaks, again better in close-up; No.8 for a rock being put to good use; No.12 for capturing the unusual formation.

Well done to all competitors; this was a very close contest.

Botanical Topic

Botanical subjects (including trees, flowers, but must be growing, or perhaps has stopped growing!

This topic has been judged, and the results are:

1st - No.3, an unusual and delicate flower, with tiny droplets of water and a good contrast with the background.
2nd - No.5, this shows the delicacy of the flower, with other stages of blooming from buds to dying.
3rd - No.4, trees and mist are very atmospheric.

Special merit for No.8, the monstrous seaweed, and No.10, the ferns, although it was difficult to see the whole picture to get a good effect in this medium.
