Transport Topic

Entries are invited for the new topic on modes of transport. Transport (any kind as long as a human being can get in, on or otherwise attached to it). Special merit to unusual forms that are NOT the usual mode for that particular location.

Well, Happy Snappers, the moment you've been waiting for. The judging was done at the same time as for our two previous topics, but unfortunately the text all got lost in the editing process. So the train never really left the station, as someone famously said. This was a pity, as your learned judge had prepared a lengthy and detailed summing up. The jury, however, are long gone, and we have a briefer results page. For more information, competitors can contact the judge outside the courts, with a little something to loosen the tongue.

The Verdict: in reverse order,

No.4 - unusual, but not unusual in the location (lots of empty trolleys in view)
No.8 - not something you see every day on your way to work, or even your way around the world. The judge can't help thinking, however, that this must be the only way to travel on that route.
No.5 - 'My car doesn't go' This has to be the winner for the picture of utter dejection on the face of the owner, and the distinct air of the car failing to be anyone's pride and joy. And there are some alternative means of transport in the shot.
No.7 almost sneaked in, as first place, as it fits the topic notes, and is an unusual form of transport to/from work, although it is fairly standard in Cuba, and quite frankly preferable to some other local means - if your knees can take the bouncing in and out of the ruts and potholes. So, this perversely gets the special merit.
No.10 - Nice trainers, and good reflections, but can itbe allowed for the topic? Well, the judge likes it, so it gets a special merit too.
